From the Principal's Desk

September 30, 2020

Thank you to those who were able to attend last night’s Home and School Meeting.  There was a lot of information shared.  I have included a handout in today’s family envelope from Dr. Lara Sayler Smith (mom to Beckett in 5th grade), there is also a link to a video she created for us as well.

Thank you so much as we continue to work hard to keep all of our students and staff safe and healthy.  A reminder that if you are awaiting test results please keep your children home. We continue to work closely with Green County Health to make sure all guidelines and procedures are appropriately followed.

NED Show:  This Friday, Oct. 2 students in grade K-5th grade will be part of the virtual NED program: The Mindset Mission. This is a free program for our students, and there is information about purchasing a yoyo to help support this program.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office, 325-3395.

Parent Teacher Conferences:  We will be having PT conferences on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Monday, Oct. 19.  There are sign up sheets in today’s family envelope. If you would prefer to do your conference via a phone call you can sign up for that option as well. Please remember for the health and safety of all, this is parent only, and masks are required.

STAR test results:  In today’s family envelope will be a copy of your STAR testing for students in K-5th grade. Kindergarten students will get one copy of the Early Literacy Test, while 1st-5th Graders will receive both a reading or a math test results.  This is one type of assessment we use to evaluate student learning.  Please realize that students have not done a STAR test since last January, so the transition back to this type of assessment may be difficult for some students until we get back into the swing of things.  There is NO NEED to return these STAR scores, this information belongs to you.

School Pictures: You are receiving your picture packet today in your family envelope. If you are not satisfied with the pictures, retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21. If you are retaking, please send the entire packet back to the office, this will allow us to generate the list of people who need retakes.

Respect Life Month:  During the month of October we again will be participating in the baby bottle drive. This is a great way to support CARENET, and the work with new moms.  As Christians we are called to believe that life begins at conception and ends at natural death. We pray for the importance of every single life, each and every day. There is a letter explaining the drive and a bottle for each child in today’s envelope.

Prayer Card:  There is a special prayer card created by the Diocese of Madison for your family in today’s envelope. I encourage you to use this prayer during this time of COVID.

All Souls Day:  On Monday, Nov. 2 we will be celebrating the feast of All Souls. This is a special day in our church where we remember all those of our friends and family who have passed away. This year each student will receive a heart that they are able to write the names of friends and family members who have passed away. We ask that you return the hearts to school and we will display them at church for the month of November. Please return these completed hearts with your family name and the names of your deceased family members by Friday, October 16. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your continued support of St. Victor School. It is a blessing to spend each day with your children. They continue to work hard at following the rules and giving their best during their daily assignments and lessons.  What a blessing each and every day is! If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at school: (608)325-3395 or email, joepeters@stvictormonroe.org

.God Bless,
