Dear Parents and Guardians:

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding as we navigate our new school year. Our goal continues to be the health and well-being of students and staff.

The Home and School Board has decided to CANCEL the Kickball event scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10. We want to make sure that we are safe and with increasing numbers of COVID cases and quarantines, we don’t want to run the risk of having an event that causes people to get sick. The Home and School Board will keep you posted when the event is rescheduled.

Fantastically Fun Fridays: We again would like to bring back our Friday Dress Up Days for those who would like to participate. This is a great way to make the end of the week special for students, and have some fun in the process. Here are the dress up days for the upcoming weeks:

Sept. 10 Red/White and Blue Day

Sept. 17 Red and White (MHS Homecoming-Go Cheesemakers)

Sept. 24 NO SCHOOL-St. Victor School Only

Oct. 1 Backwards Day

Oct. 8 Dress Like You Grandparent Day

Oct. 15 Orange Day-Bully Prevention Awareness

We hope your family will participate in these events.

September 24: There is no school on this day for St. Victor School only. We will be attending an inservice at St. Joseph’s School in Fort Atkinson. Enjoy your long weekend!

STAR Testing: For students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade we will continue to use the STAR assessments to evaluate student growth. These assessments are taken on the computer, and we will do these several times throughout the year. Your child’s homeroom teacher will reach out and let you know when this testing takes place. We should have all testing completed in the next couple weeks of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at school.

Fall Dinner/Raffle: St. Clare of Assisi Parish will be hosting a drive thru porkchop dinner on Sunday, October 10. There is also a parish raffle. In your family envelope are tickets for this raffle, I would encourage you to sell these tickets to friends and family. Through this raffle we continue to support our parish (which funds your child’s education by over 50%). If you have any questions about the dinner or the raffle please feel free to call school.

This Saturday we will remember the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. In 2001 I had been a principal for about 5 days when the events happened. Trust me they never covered an event like this in “becoming a principal class”, but the one thing I do remember is that we gathered as a school and prayed together. We prayed for the victims, the first responders who gave their lives, we prayed for the people of New York and the Pentagon, we prayed for those in the buildings and those in the planes. One of the things I remember most is the strong sense of community that I felt not only being at St. Victor School and in Monroe, but the strong sense of community across our nation. I hope and pray that as we remember those events, we can remember that sometimes from pain and strief grows a stronger sense of faith, community and hope for better times. May this weekend cause us all to reflect on what an amazing country we live in, all those who continue to work hard for peace and justice in our world, and all the abundant blessings that God has given to each and every one of us.

God Bless,

Joe Peters
