Dear Parents and Guardians:
Happy Holy Week. I hope and pray that your family will find time to celebrate the events that lead us to Easter. Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Service, the Easter Vigil and of course Easter Sunday. We are also excited for Terra Junk, mom to Cam and Haddie on receiving her First Communion and Confirmation at this year’s Easter Vigil! What a blessing our faith is! A reminder there is NO SCHOOL on Good Friday (April 7) and Easter Monday (April 10).
Calendar Changes: On the calendar for the month of April there were a couple of incorrect times. The School Musical will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 13 it was listed at 6:00 pm. The Science Fair for 5th grade will begin at 12:30-2:30 with awards at 2:30 pm. Sorry for these mistakes.
Mardi Gras Movie and Popcorn Day: Friday, April 28: We will be celebrating meeting our goal for our Mardi Gras Raffle Tickets with the movie, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, popcorn, and juice on Friday, April 28. Here is the following review from Common Sense Media for the film (which is rated PG):
What Parents Need to Know:
Parents need to know that Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action, family-friendly musical based on the beloved 1965 picture book. As in the book, the story centers around the Primm family, who discover that they have a crocodile in their New York City townhouse. This version of Lyle (who's voiced by Shawn Mendes) sings like a pop performer -- but only in front of loved ones, never an audience. The main antagonist is the Primms' downstairs neighbor -- the spot-on-named Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman) -- who would love nothing more than to get the entire family evicted. Expect a bit of peril: Animal control shoots a tranquilizer gun to sedate Lyle, and, in a moment of humor, he accidentally swallows a cat whole. There's also a lot of slapstick, like when Lyle and Mr. Primm wrestle or a sequence in which two characters are pursued through New York City streets. There are a couple of fart jokes, and two different characters are caught taking a bath or shower, startling other characters. The story depicts a middle schooler who deals with anxiety, and a blended family that's really close. Younger kids will get a kick out of Lyle's little adventures, fans of Mendes' music will enjoy the original songs, and parents will appreciate the messages about teamwork, courage, and honesty.
Fish Fry Appreciation: Thank you so much for your great participation not only in volunteering but also coming in and eating (and using the drive thru) during our Fish Fry season. We are truly blessed to have such a great turnout for our school families!
Tuition Contracts 2324: A reminder that your tuition contracts are due next Friday, April 14. If your intentions have changed and you are not planning to attend St. Victor School in the fall, I would ask that you please reach out and let me know. Please turn in your contract in a timely manner as we begin to plan and order materials for the upcoming school year.
Home and School General Meeting: Our spring general meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:00 pm in the school gym. This meeting will allow you to review what H&S has done this year, and what plans are ahead for the upcoming summer and school year. We will also have a few board positions that we will be looking to fill. The meeting is parent only and will last about an hour. Please plan on joining us!
