Dear Parents and Guardians:
We come to the end of another month! I can’t believe how quickly the school year is moving along.
Temperature Checks: We are going to move away from doing temperature checks in the morning for students. We ask that you still pull in and a staff member will be out there to help get your children out of the car and into school. A reminder that children who are exiting from the right side of your vehicle (driver’s side) should get out and walk in front of the car. Thanks for your patience through this, and we appreciate you continuing to keep your children home if they are sick. Please pass this information on to all people who do the dropping off in the morning (grandparents, babysitters, neighbors, etc.)
Teacher Appreciation Week: Next week we will celebrate the amazing teachers and staff that work with your children. There is a handout from Home and School regarding the little ways you are able to show support for our teachers during this week. I encourage you to participate and let the teachers know what an amazing job they are doing!
End of the Year: As we move toward the month of May, I wanted to highlight a couple of things that will be happening:
Our Spring Concert will be held at Twining Park on Wednesday, May 26. More details will be coming.
Pool Party: for students in K-5th grade we will be having our annual swim party on Tuesday, June 1 from 1:00-2:30. A permission slip is located in this family envelope.
Last Day of School: our final day of school is Wednesday, June 2 with a release at 11:10 am, there will be no lunch that day.
Summer Projects: I wanted to update you on several major projects that will be happening around school this summer. There will be new flooring put into the 4K, K, and 1st Grade classrooms. For this to happen, there will need to be an asbestos abatement done. These two projects will take place at the end of June/beginning of July. BEFORE this can happen we will need some help moving the stuff out of these classrooms. I will be sending an email out with an evening time for adults to help in this process. Second thing will be there will be a bathroom renovation for the second floor bathrooms. Both of these projects come from private donations.
Another big project moving forward will be an upgrading of the electricity to our school to allow air conditioning units to be installed in all of the classrooms this summer. This decision was made at last night’s Home and School Meeting. The money to fund this project comes from the great fundraising year we had and all of your support!
Finally in August we will be getting a donation of wood chips (thank you Sparrow Lawn and the Hardacre family), this will be about 73 yards of wood chips. We will need help on a designated day in August to move the wood chips. Wheelbarrows, rakes, and some “muscle(both mom, dad, and kiddo) will be needed to spruce up our playground! Please look for an email with information coming this summer. It is going to be a very busy summer around St. Victor School! Thank you in advance for your support.
It is going to be a busy final month of school! Thank you again for your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school, (608)325-3395 or email joepeters@stvictormonroe.org.
God Bless,
Joe Peters
